The castle belonged to the Challant&#8217;s family until 1565 when it became Savoy&#8217;s property. In 1661 Duke Carlo Emanuele 1st converged all armies located here to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.guidaturisticaosta.it\/en\/visite\/fortress-of-bard\/\">Fortress of Bard<\/a><\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe Challant regained possession of the castle in 1696 and kept it until 19th century.<br \/>\nThe castle was eventually bought by architect Alfredo d&#8217;Andrade, who restored it and donated it to the State.<\/p>\n<p>During the <strong>guided tour of the Verr\u00e8s castle<\/strong> we can admire the defensive structure consisting of loopholes, portcullis and a drawbridge.
