{"id":16956,"date":"2018-02-27T19:51:25","date_gmt":"2018-02-27T18:51:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.guidaturisticaosta.it\/visite\/etroubles\/"},"modified":"2021-06-12T21:58:40","modified_gmt":"2021-06-12T19:58:40","slug":"etroubles","status":"publish","type":"visite","link":"https:\/\/www.guidaturisticaosta.it\/en\/visite\/etroubles\/","title":{"rendered":"Medieval village of Etroubles"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Visit of Etroubles<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Etroubles<\/strong> is a picturesque village along the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.guidaturisticaosta.it\/en\/visite\/roman-road-to-gaul\/\">Roman Road to Gaul<\/a><\/strong> and during Middle Ages became part of the Francigena road, that linked Canterbury in Britain with Rome.<\/p>\n<p>The medieval village of Etroubles with its <strong>open-air museum<\/strong> is a permanent art gallery, set up in collaboration with the prestigious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gianadda.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fondation Gianadda of Martigny<\/a>. Along the cobblestone streets, surrounded by contemporary works of art, people can discover some picturesque corners.<\/p>\n<p>Among the Italian artists exhibiting are the painter and sculptor Salvatore Sebaste, Alberto Gambale and Sergio Zanni, the painter Carlo Brenna and Andrea Granchi.<br \/>\nFrench artists include Albert F\u00e9raud, the most famous living French sculptor, Guido Magnone, Opening and closing the exhibition are the wooden trails of Aosta Valley sculptors Giulio Schiavon and Siro Vi\u00e9rin and several creations by Chicco Margaroli and Franco Balan.<\/p>\n<h2>Great Saint Bernard Valley<\/h2>\n<p>The Great Saint Bernard Valley is not far away from Aosta and is one of the richest one with a lot of history, tradition and events. The Valley hosts the most colored Carnival of Aosta Valley with the local masks usually called \u201cLandzette\u201d, which costumed are inspired by Napoleonic uniforms.<\/p>\n<p>The visit to the <strong>Great Saint Bernard Valley<\/strong> includes the eponymous pass, open only during summer is a place where you can breathe the spirituality.<\/p>\n<p>To the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guidaturisticaosta.it\/en\/visite\/great-saint-bernard-pass\/\"><strong>Great Saint Bernard Pass<\/strong><\/a> is possible to see the archaeological remains of the Roman Road to Gaul, the medieval hospice with the treasure museum, the kennels where the famous Saint Bernard dogs are bred.<\/p>\n<h2>Valpelline<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Valpelline<\/strong> is a green valley among vast pastures and orchards hosting the <strong>Place Moulin dam<\/strong>, the biggest dam of Aosta Valley.
