Guided Tour of the Consolata Roman Villa

The Consolata Roman Villa is an elegant Roman residence situated outside of the city walls of Aosta.

During the 1st century B.C., after the foundation of Augusta Praetoria, were built some villas outside the boundary walls which have a compact structure with a predominance of residential style areas (pars urbana), reserved for the dominus and his guests, with respect to the service areas, the deposit areas and possibly as areas for processing agricultural products (pars rustica and fructuaria).
This villa was not exclusively used for private purposes given that the owner was probably a public figure working on the construction of Augusta Praetoria during the second half of the 1st century B.C.

The majority of the ancient structures are currently recognizable: the kitchen, the living room, the bedrooms and also the thermal bath.
