Guided Tour of the Regional Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art
The castle of Baron Gamba in Chatillon now houses the permanent exhibition of the regional collection of modern and contemporary art.
The exhibition presents a selection of over 150 of the most significant works in the collection.
Beside the works of the maestros of the 20th century, including the sculptures of Martini, Mastroianni, Manzù, Arnaldo and Giò Pomodoro, and paintings by Casorati, De Pisis, Carrà and Guttuso, the collection documents Italian figurative art production from the second half of the century up to contemporary research exponents, such as Schifano, Rama, Mainolfi, Garau, Isgrò and Bentivoglio.
A wide and varied selection of works testifies to the movements that have animated the Italian art scene over the past 25 years: for example, the exhibition hosts representations of informal art, geometric abstraction, transavantgarde and pop art. Particular importance is given to the Aosta Valley region through the activity of local artists, or those active in the Valley, on regional commission.
Particular emphasis is given to the Valle d’Aosta area through the activity of local artists, or those active in the Valley on regional commission.
The guided tour of the 13 rooms of the Regional Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art will focus on the most significant works and authors of the last two centuries, illustrating the artistic currents that have dominated the art of the twentieth century.
The visit ends in the rooms dedicated to temporary exhibitions and in the roof terrace located at the top of the castle tower from where you can admire the extraordinary surrounding landscape at 360°.
