Visit of Breuil-Cervinia
Breuil Cervinia, together with Courmayeur, is the most famous mountain resort of Aosta Valley.
Located at 2050 meters a. s. l. and at the top of Valtournenche, it is a modern Alpine city renowned around the world for to the presence of Matterhorn (called Cervino in italian).
The Matterhorn was climbed for the first time from the Italian on 17 July 1865 by mountain guide Jean-Antoine Carrel. In the same year was born the Cervino Alpine Guides Association.
Close to the association headquarter is placed the mountain hut Luigi Amedeo of Savoy, after having served for a long time, it has been re-built in the town center and today it welcomes a museum about the history of alpinism.
Its fortunate tourist development was promoted by the large cable railway systems. “Cervinia ski paradise district” is today a holiday resort of international level and fame, and connects Aosta Valley with Zermatt in Switzerland.
